World Alumina Production Reached A 14-month High In November

- Dec 29, 2018-

Estimates released by the International Aluminum Institute on Thursday showed that global production of metallurgical alumina used to produce primary aluminum jumped to an average of 338,200 tons per month last month. Based on data-based calculations, production in October increased by 1.8% quarter-on-quarter, reaching its highest level since September 2017. South America is a key contributor to major production areas, with an average daily output growth of nearly 9% after a decline in October. Considering the limited capacity of Norway's Alunorte project in Brazil and the US sanctions against Rusal, the market is closely watching alumina production.
